ABV: 8.5%

Color: Golden Amber

The nose on this is very fruity with a sweet maltiness.  Much like the nose this starts off with a smooth malt and fruit notes with a light alcohol that hits in the middle, but not warming, then finishes with a hint of bitterness.  This is a good tripel that is a good drink now and could be something special with some aging.

Recommendation: Seek it out and set a few back.

Flying Dog Garde Dog

March 29, 2008

ABV: 5.8%

Color: Copper

A sweet malt, fruity and hint of caramel on the nose.  A rich grainy and notes of caramel with a hint is alcohol on the sides of the tongue but nothing distracting.  A good overall Biere de Garde that I would like to see how it ages.

Recommendation:  Worth a try.

Rating:  8.5/10

ABV: 10%

Color: Cloudy brown reminds me of muddy water.

The nose is full of oak, alcohol, whiskey, and a malty sweetness.  This is a sipping beer that is smooth with very strong flavors of whiskey and oak with a background sweetness.  This is a flat beer which is not too bad after the first couple of sips.

Recommendation: Not for everyone but more then worth a try if you are able to your hands on 1 of the 725 bottles.

Color: Burgandy

Very sweet and malty on the nose. The flavor starts out bitter then breaks into a sweet maltiness that leaves you with a nice malty aftertaste. This has an interesting mouth-feel very light on the tongue but has a huge flavor.

Recommendation: Seek this one out for the winter season.

ABV: 9%

Color: Black with a caramel head.

A sweet, malty, hint of alcohol and a roasted coffee-like nose.  The flavor is like the nose but has not taste of alcohol at all and a sweet flavor that says prunes almost.  A very full flavored beer at 9% that could be a session beer if it weren’t for the higher ABV.

Recommendation: Seek this one out.

Color: Dark amber with a nice head.

Malty grainy nose. The flavor is much like the smell very malty with a note of bitterness on the sides of the tongue. This is part of the Open Source Beer Project which a brewery makes a beer then makes the recipe free to the home brew world to make it themselves.

Recommendation: Seek this one out and maybe make it yourself.

Flying Dog Dogtoberfest

October 3, 2007

ABV: 5.8%

Color: Dark amber with a nice thick head.

Very malty nose. The taste of this is completely different then I expected out of an Octoberfest it is very hoppy, the website says it is more malty then hoppy but that is not what I tasted. It is still a great beer from the Flying Dog Brewery.

Recommendation: Tis the season seek it out.
